I am working on a family geneology project and found this site. I am trying to find out a little history on these ggg grandparents who both lived and died in Suriname (died around 1831). I know that Ester had a brother Moses Jacob de Meza and her father was Semuel de Jahacob Rephael de Meza, mother was (last name) del Prado.

Does anyone know what these last names mean? I know Soesman was jewish but cannot find any information on de Meza. Was it a last name? I understand that Ester was probably a slave that married Jacob. Does anyone know how I would find out if Ester's family was native to South America or Africa.

I know this is a long shot, but maybe someone might have a thread of information.
