Toename aids Suriname
Suriname staat aan de vooravond van een aidsepidemie. Het aantal besmettingen neemt problematische vormen aan. Dat stellen prof. Sven Danner, internist bij het VU Medisch Centrum, en epidemioloog Roel Coutinho. Beiden keerden onlangs terug uit Suriname. Ook onder de Surinaamse Nederlanders neemt het aantal hiv-besmettingen toe. "Als het daar uit de hand loopt, dan hier ook."

Hi,
I am a nursing student from Antwerp, Belgium. I have received the opportunity of continuing these studies in Surinam. We are asked to choose our thesis subject according to our internship abroad.
I was planning on writing about oncology and cancer care in Paramaribo, but having read the above, I am having second thoughts.
It seems HIV is a much larger problem at this moment. Sadly, I still lack thourough insight in the health care system -and problems- in Surinam.
By using this forum, I hope to find some extra info about either cancer or HIV health care in Surinam. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
